{it's good to be a girl}

Olive Green Dress, old (similar) // Chambray Shirt // Booties, old (similar) // Vera Bradley Purse c/o // Baublebar Ring // Quay Sunglasses // Kendra Scott Necklace c/o

I'm going a bit more casual for today's post. Just because this purse is so glam that it deserved to take center stage! It was a bit of a hot day when I styled this look but still cool in the shade - so I grabbed this loose chambray for a little bit of extra warmth (but not as heavy as a jean jacket). I had to add in my booties because it's the season! I'm also looking for a new pair... any favorites that y'all have this season so far?

You may remember my first It's Good to be a Girl post last month! Vera Bradley had just introduced their new logo and campaign :) women from all over have shared their favorite reasons why it's good to be a girl - my new favorite line (that I've seen on the site) says "not having to wear pants (aka dresses)"!! I got a good laugh at that. I looooove dresses but I hate tights... so the Fall is my ideal season because I can still let my legs breathe before I have to cover them up!

My new reason why it's good to be a girl? Mother Daughter time. Hanging out with your parent is probably the coolest thing to do. She knows everything about me, laughs just like me (or me like her), knows what I like to drink and eat, knows what to say to turn my day around, and we love all the same things. I had a hilarious weekend with her eating and drinking through DC and wine country and then spending the evening looking through gifs on the new iOS 10, eating salami and brie in bed, and watching Pretty Woman. My little "hotel room" of an apartment has had some pretty amazing memories all thanks to my momma! Yep, it's pretty good to be a girl!

If you share your reason on Vera Bradley's website you could be featured! I'd love to hear your reasons below :)

{it's good to be a girl}

Forever 21 Crop Top // Forever 21 Maxi Skirt (similar) // Michael Kors Wedges //
Butter London Nailpolish in "cotton buds"

I loved this color combo so much that I had to put it together again - I just can't get enough of white and olive paired with a gorgeous maroon purse! I love a sassy crop top (especially with sweet lace) but not in the way you'd expect... I'm not a big belly showing gal haha. I paired it with a high waisted skirt to mix it up and create the illusion that it's a tiered maxi dress. Also, did you notice that my purse is Vera Bradley? They keep surprising me! The same quilted look that we all grew up with and love but this time in a sophisticated leather with a new logo.

Vera Bradley has launched a new campaign that I'm really excited to share with y'all - it encourages all women to share why they feel it's good to be a girl. From being a mother to getting free drinks when it's not your birthday :) Women from all over have shared why they love being a girl! Share why you think it's good to be a girl on Vera Bradley's website and you could be featured. I love reading everyone's responses... especially "the ability to laugh or cry at the drop of a hat" haha how true is that?!

So why do I think it's good to be a girl?? Because you can create a million excuses as to why you need that purse, because you can put on lipstick and totally change your look, because believing in fairy tales is normal and acceptable, because you can buy yourself flowers for no reason, and because you're allowed to cry when you're sad. It's good to be a girl because we have the power to create a beautiful life and we have so much love to give.

{april favorites + giveaway}

During the month of April I found myself reaching for some of the same things over and over - so I thought I would share :)

Tula Exfoliating Treatment Mask // I received this in my mimi chatter bag and I instantly fell in love. It's so refreshing and makes my skin feel fresh and squeaky clean.

Butter London Polish // Now that spring's back, I'm back to wearing white. This brand is my favorite because the color doesn't ever turn yellow and it lasts pretty long.

Baublebar Cuff // Y'all know I love my turquoise. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take the Texas out of the girl. I love it because it goes with everything and with every color!

Kendra Scott Necklace // You may remember this necklace from this IG photo and this one too. This necklace is from the new Spring collection - I love how the stone has so many different colors in it!

Bite Lipstick // I'm sorry that I wear this lipstick in every post and every day... I feel like Kylie Jenner in it and I love that it gives me a rich color while still feeling like a neutral. I have the color "pastille"!

Dove Deodorant // I did a post about this brand and fell in love with it again last month. It doesn't get on my clothes, goes on easily, dries quickly, and smells so fresh (I can smell it working until bedtime)!

St. Tropez Mousse Self-Tanner // I've been looking for a good self tanner (I hate the smell of Jargons) and while I was browsing through Sephora I stumbled upon this one... I used it at my Mimi's house years ago and remembered it working pretty well. It did NOT disappoint!! I instantly felt tanner and it dried so quickly I could go straight to bed and not worry about it turning my sheets orange! This is my new go-to and the color lasts almost a week!

Garner Under-Eye Roller // perfect for mornings when I wake up tired and with dark, puffy circles under my eyes! The metal ball distributes the product evenly with a nice cooling touch.

Prada Sunglasses // My newest Shop Ditto rental!! Love this updated style of the Prada glasses that everyone has - plus, you can never go wrong with a good tortoise shell frame. Normally it's only $24 to rent a pair of designer sunglasses for a month! You can get your first month free with code "southernanchors" :) I'm so obsessed!

Vera Bradley Makeup Bag // This isn't the exact one I have but I have been using this every weekend! It has a plastic lining so that I can throw all of my makeup in there and quickly hit the road. I've had a VB makeup bag since I was 10 years old (I remember going to Bering's Hardware in Houston and picking out my first duffle bag set with matching cosmetic bags and jewelry travel case!) and they're always my favorite for traveling. Plus, I'm giving one makeup bag away in the pattern of your choice below to kick off my birthday week!!!

{fuzzy reversible vest}

photography by Lauren Middledorf

Reversible Vest // Kendra Scott Necklace and Earrings c/o // DL1961 Jeans c/o // Black and Nude Flats // Black Sweater, old // Vera Bradley Purse c/o // Shop Ditto Sunglasses (get your first month free with code SOUTHERNANCHORS) // It Cosmetics Lipstick in "Perfect Nude" c/o

I realized that I probably should have included this vest in yesterday's gift guide post. The second I posted this vest on Instagram after wearing it I got multiple snaps/texts/comments that people went and purchased it for themselves... and I totally get it!! The second I saw it in stores myself I knew it had to be mine (especially since it's reversible). My mom agreed too haha, I wore it over Thanksgiving and we went to get her one while I was home because otherwise she was going to take mine :) It's perfect to dress down and run errands in but I've also worn it over black pants and a blouse for work. It's the perfect amount of warmth if you're wearing a light blouse in the office! Plus, it has pockets and the prettiest waterfall effect at the front.

Which side would you wear more? The grey cotton side or the white fuzzy side?
