{coffee date no. 2}

Ahh Friday morning and another coffee date… I hope you added a little extra sugar in your morning cup of coffee or tea because it's been a great week back in the blogging world! Ready for another coffee date? Great :)

This week has been immensely smoother than my last three. For starters I'm back to blogging and couldn't be happier!! It's been hard getting back in a routine with writing my posts and scheduling tweets (or lack of… sorry) but I love waking up every morning and knowing I have a new post up to share with y'all!

Did you catch my posts from this past week?

Oct. 8 Morning // I work in an open office so my row (#bestrowever) does a couple of breakfasts or afternoon snacks together. It's just a nice break to sit with my sweet coworkers and eat delicious goodies. We always do birthday breakfasts but this particular day we were celebrating someone moving on to new adventures! Those pumpkin chips from Trader Joe's were so good!!

Oct. 8-11 // I finally got down to Blacksburg for my first VT game of the season! Luckily, the Hokies pulled a win against NC State. Maybe I should go to every game because they've had a pretty rough season… putting it lightly. I could potentially be a good luck charm? I always sit with the boy's family who have front row seats - a rowdy group and I couldn't be luckier!

October 11 // Home again, home again, jiggity jog! One of favorite blogger ladies, Hosting and Toasting, picked me up from the train station (lovely 3.5 train ride from Lynchburg) and had such a nice surprise for me. BAC and I have both supported each other a lot the past couple of months. I'm so lucky to have really great blogger friends in the DC area!

We also got my aunt and uncle's wedding pictures in!! I loved this wedding so much - having all of my family together in California celebrating was so special.

October 14 // The one study break I took in the two weeks before my exam was obviously to go to the Kendra Scott "Mirror Mirror" launch party! It. is. so. good. I swear I say this every time she releases a new collection but this one is easily the best yet!

Some of my favorite necklaces… I'm going to have to invest in a couple more ;)

1 // 2 // 3 // 4

This is the ring I got - incredible. I get so many compliments on it and I love the asymmetry!

October 16-18 // I became a hermit this weekend. I took practice exams for 48 hours straight and probably lived in leggings and sweatshirts the whole weekend… my only adventure outside of my house was to grab sushi, wine and ice cream for a wild Saturday night in watching The Hobbit (treat yo self).

October 19-22 // Week before my exam… aka clean parts of my room as a study break because I couldn't focus unless I cleaned something. (If you follow me on snapchat you know the mess that was actually surrounding the nice clean photos I took. Hey, I could only clean so much).

October 23 // EXAM DAY. Who knows if I passed. That exam was one of the hardest I've taken in my entire life… I snapchatted a lot once I was free from sitting in front of a computer screen for 4 hours!!

Back with my ladies on our favorite place - the sofa with wine! (that didn't go so well for all of us…)

October 26-30 // This week hasn't been too eventful besides my blog posts and instagrams! However, we had a pumpkin carving contest at the office yesterday and my team got first place! The theme was "hobbies" so we decided to take our love of wine to the next level. Complete with a personalized wine label from our "KJB Vineyard" ;)

Instagram Lately // I'm not going to do a full insta recap (you can go here to get outfit details on everything I post) but these are two highlights: A new Old Navy scarf I got after my exam that I'm living in and a giveaway with Duffield Lane that ends today! You can win an Emma Top in the color of your choice! Head to Instagram for more details. PS I just reposted my blanket scarf tutorial from last year! It's a quick, visual way to see how I normally wear my blanket scarves with so much fabric!

As usual, thanks for reading! I've got LOTS of great content coming to you this Winter :) Be sure to check in Sunday because I have a special announcement of something I'm taking on this November. Then Monday there's ANOTHER fun surprise for my readers. If you have any suggestions about content you want to see or don't want to see please let me know! I'm so grateful for all of you!

{little red purse}

The best accessory to top off a casual sweater look? A little red purse.

Photography by Emily Smalling

Old Navy Sweater // Old Navy Ripped Jeans // Leopard Heels // Vera Bradley Purse ℅ // ILY Couture Rings // Baublebar Bracelet // Rocksbox Earrings (free month with code "jenniferxoxo1") //
It Cosmetics Lipstick in "It Girl" ℅ // Essie Nail Polish in "bahama mama"

The second I saw this purse I knew it had to be mine. I've wanted a red purse for some time now - I've always had an affinity for red as the perfect pop of color. Red lipstick is a go-to for date night and instantly sprucing up an outfit so why not apply that concept to your purse? I'm constantly sticking with neutral purses (yes, my leopard clutch is a neutral for me) so this was a fun one to add to my collection. I love that it can be worn as a crossbody and it has two easy access pockets on the outside (front and back) with a magnetic closure for storing your cell phone!

Can you believe the gorgeous trees in the background? I don't know what stands out more… my little red nugget bag or the vibrant trees :) I hope all of the rain we're having doesn't wash them away just yet! One of my projects is in construction out in Potomac right now and the drive has me grinning the whole way there. The colors this year are incredible!!

{wish list wednesday | 10.28.15}

H&M Blouse // Baublebar Necklace (Gal Meets Glam collection!!) // Ann Taylor Cape (extra 50% off right now) // Old Navy Sweater // Steve Madden Booties // Target Keychain (USB is hidden inside!)

I haven't made a wish list in awhile… I always like to browse around online and save different things that inspire me or that I would like to have in my closet :) Just because I was studying for the past month doesn't mean I wasn't still thinking about the blog and new things to bring to the table!

I've been inspired by elegant jewelry, easy neutral layers and bright sweaters recently! I'm also on the hunt for a nice pair of brown leather booties… I have a grey suede pair and a heeled black pair but no brown leather so naturally I need to round my collection out. Also, how could I not throw in that purse?! I love the shape and the gold studs are such a fun detail - a little bit Southern don't ya think?

Did y'all catch the Gal Meets Glam collaboration with Baublebar?! So. Much. Yes. Julia has been my favorite blogger since I was in college (yep, I'm talking when she shot photos with a digital camera) and I've loved Baublebar since the day they opened their doors so this collab had my heart skipping a beat! I picked up this picture frame for my desk at work!

What do you have your eye on right now?

{october stripes}

Anybody else fall for classic navy and white stripes every. single. time?

Photography by Emily Smalling

Duffield Lane Emma Top ℅ // Old Navy Jeans // Franco Sarto Boots // Cashmere Wrap (similar) // Kendra Scott Ring // Kendra Scott Earrings ℅ // Karen Walker Harvest Sunglasses via Shop Ditto (get your first month FREE with code "southernanchors") // It Cosmetics Lipstick in "Perfect Nude" ℅ // Essie Polish in "Bahama Mama"

With all of the plaids that pop up during fall it's nice to mix it up with some bold stripes (a little hint of summer and a nod to my love of anything nautical). To make sure this look didn't become too out of place with the weather I kept it classic with leather boots and my favorite cashmere wrap. Is it normal for a cashmere scarf to become a security blanket? I always have this with me because I never know when I might need that extra layer of warmth!

Two of my favorite things about this shirt… 1) the sleeves can be rolled up (how I'm wearing it) or you can leave them long and have the contrasting cuff and 2) it's the softest, stretchiest cotton fabric even though it looks like a crisp button down material! The tunic length means you could wear it with leggings and still have your bottom covered. It comes in 6 other color combos too!

If you head to my Instagram you can win your very own Emma top!
(You even get to pick your color! Giveaway ends Friday night 10/30)

PS. I'm so so soooo happy to be back y'all! Thanks for bearing with me while I attempted to get my life straightened out and focused on myself. I hope you missed me tons ;) and are excited to see some new looks and fun giveaways I have coming up… 'tis the season! Be sure to follow me on Snapchat (@jennrog3) because I always snap what I'm up to!

{shopbop sale 2015}

PSSST… these boards are shoppable - simply click on the product you can't live without!

Today is a HUGE day for all you shoppers out there… Shopbop has their annual Friends and Family sale where you can get 25% off with code "INTHEFAM25"! This is the perfect time to grab a pair of boots or booties for fall and invest in a new handbag! [Tory Burch, Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade, to name a few, are excluded.]

I know everyone says it but it's so rare to find quality items marked down like this! Investing in nice boots and accessories has made a huge difference for me. They end up lasting longer and I truly see a greater return in my investment!

I have my eye on that Clare V. Sandrine Satchel - she's a beauty - and those suede knee high boots! I'd love to know what y'all are lusting after or what you pick up. Clearly I have a thing for tortoise shell sunnies and red bags this season too ;)
