{escapada living}

Nothing like a maxi in the summer that you can wear multiple ways - work, brunch, happy hour, date night, you name it.

Photography by Emily Smalling

When I was in Charleston I knew I had to stop by the Escapada Living store. I've always been a lover of bright patterns and prints and Escapada embodies that completely. They're known for their resort wear so everything is loose and breezy - perfect for hot, humid days. I wore this look to brunch the other weekend and got lots of compliments on the unique cut and full buttoned front!

I got another maxi (I wore it on Instagram here) and an adorable pair of red and blue striped shorts that I wore for the Fourth of July. All of their dresses run a little big so I would size down from your usual size. Escapada is sold at a lot of boutiques - each boutique is able to pick and choose the pattern and style of clothing combo for their store. Something not everyone offers! You'll find new styles and patterns at every store that carries Escapada. Be sure to check them out online too!

{pink pom-poms and pleats}

Pink pom-poms and pleats. Say that five times fast!

Photography by Emily Smalling

ASOS Dress (sold out) via Dressometry ℅ // Accessory Concierge Pom-Pom Necklaces // Steve Madden Heels // Rebecca Minkoff Clutch (pink version) // MAC Lipstick in "Impassioned"

My favorite dresses through Dressometry that are similar to my pleated ASOS one: Shoptiques Pink Bow DressRevolve Cross Back DressUrban Outfitters Trapeze Dress, and this Shopbop BCBG Mini Dress.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to share this website with y'all… especially because the fact that this dress is sold out makes Dressometry come in handy even more!

Here's how it works - You're looking for a particular dress. Say you want it to be short with a bit of fit and flare and you love the color pink. So you come up with this result! Dressometry gives you the closest match and then you can scroll down and see a ton of other dresses that mach your criteria! My favorite part is that you can change the level of conservativeness, the formality and the price. That's all on the right hand side of your first search result. Dressometry allows you to search for your favorite style + color dress combo over multiple websites. Yep, it searches from Free People to Lulu*s to Tobi to Revolve to ASOS to Forever 21 (okay… you get the idea). It makes finding the perfect dress so much easier. Once you find your dress you click on the image and it takes you to the retailers page so you can purchase it there! It's kind of like google for dresses… I'm obsessed. The one issue I have is that they don't tell you if it's available in your size or not. But fear not! I talked with the girls at Dressometry and that is in the works! Woot woot!

More exciting news - Dressometry also offers a shoe browsing page!!! I can't tell you how handy this is gonna be for all you brides and bridesmaids… Having someone tell you that you have to wear a blush pink peep-toe heel doesn't narrow your search down. It only broadens it more! Now you can search for that and stay in your budget while browsing in your pajamas with a glass of wine :)

{currently craving: summer favorites}

This summer is not close to being over (I refuse to wear sweaters and dream about riding boots just yet… It's pushing 100 outside…) so I thought I would do a currently craving version of my summer favorites! These are items that I crave because I've been reaching for them over and over. They're my favorite snacks and my favorite products. Some are tried and true and others are newbies I've been introduced to recently but am obsessed!! Is there anything you can't live without this summer?

Kendra Scott Coby Necklace ℅ // Such a unique take on a necklace… it still lengthens while adding a little bit of unique sparkle!

Sole Serum ℅ // I was such a skeptic about this product. I have let multiple friends test it out and it really does help soothe your feet! It eases some of the aches and pains that come with wearing heels - just be cautious if you're wearing patent leather haha… it moisturizes like a lotion so my feet didn't have any grip :)

Kind Bars // I think I eat a Kind Bar every morning as a snack these days. The almond coconut cashew chai flavor is my favorite! It's exclusive to Starbucks so I always grab a couple when I'm in the store.

BaubleBar Morse Code Cuff & BaubleBar Initial Bracelet // I love wearing a bunch of bracelets but these are two of my every day go-to's that I reach for. They're so easy to mix with others and I love the unique personalization. I mean how cool is the cuff with a J in morse code?!

Butter London Polish // I am a white polish gal through and through this summer. It may be "trendy" but for me it's simple and clean and white matches everything.

Bath & Bodyworks Candle in Mahogany Teakwood // I got this candle two winters ago and I can't stop buying it. My roommates all have it too! It smells like a man… think Abercrombie&Fitch. That sounds really weird and makes it sound like I'm still in middle school but I just can't get enough of it ;)

Converse Shoreline Sneaker // My favorite shoes for traveling and running errands. I love them in white because I can throw them in the washer to get them spotless!

IT Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette ℅ // I have always wanted a good eyeshadow palette with a lot of neutral colors to play with and this one is a winner. There's a really good mix of daytime and nighttime colors to mix and blend.

Kendra Scott Owen Cocktail Ring // Who doesn't love a statement ring in turquoise? I styled it here!

Living Proof Prime Style Extender // I use this every day when I blow my hair dry. It protects my hair from the heat and helps hold any curl I put in my air (if the humidity isn't brutal). I notice a difference in frizziness if I forget to use it!

{lace white romper}

This was outside our hotel in Charleston - the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel! I loved that the fountain had horses just like all of the carriages that took people on tours around the city.

Target Romper // Lulu*s Pink heels, similar with all sizes // Love's Affect Necklace and Bracelets ℅ // Gold Stud Earrings // Rebecca Minkoff Clutch (pink option) // BITE Lipstick in "Palomino"

This is my last look from the Southern Blog Society Conference in Charleston!! I've dragged these outfit posts out so that I felt like I was still there… I truly had that much fun :)

I say this about a lot of outfits but I seriously loved this look. When I woke up Sunday morning I was beyond grateful to have something comfy to put on to enjoy a farewell breakfast with all the bloggers! I decided to spice up the look with hot pink heels and colorful accessories in pretty colored stones. I've worn these Love's Affect bracelets on multiple occasions because they're so much fun to stack up and mix with other bracelets. I love how soft the colors are and that they each have a unique element to the design. Paired with my mint clutch it was a match made in heaven!

Now my hair (because I know I'm going to get questions haha) I basically did two twist braids on either side and then pinned them on top of my head to form a crown. I decided to twist them instead of your typical braid to try and be a bit different - braids were definitely a thing amongst the girls in the Charleston humidity. If you want to see a tutorial let me know and I can try to put one together :) It's really easy and is my go-to on days when my hair isn't listening or I'm trying to extend a blow-out!

{flywheel + vaseline}

This past Saturday my roomies and I went to our very first Flywheel class! We had all been to a couple of spin classes at other places so we were excited to try somewhere new on a rainy morning. We were really excited because not only was our first class free but shoes were free too (if you've been other places you know that little things like this can really add up if you go a couple of times).

We walked in and were instantly greeted by the front desk and told where everything was. When you sign up for the class you put in your shoe size and they are waiting for you in a cubby with your bike number. We grabbed a locker, switched into our spin shoes, made sure our water bottles were full, and then waited outside for our class to start!

The coolest part about Flywheel? There's a bit of competition involved… a score board gets shown occasionally at the front of the class and you can see who is racing ahead of everyone else (spoiler: I didn't make it on the board but one of my roommates got 6th!). The class had awesome music and our instructor, Gregg P, kept everyone motivated and made us feel like a unit. There was no yelling like I had been told haha :) He really focused on us staying on beat with the music and taking it up a notch while letting it all "fly".

After the class - I felt like it went by pretty quickly looking back on it - we slowly walked out and I made a beeline for the water cooler. I thought this built in feature was so cute!

We had quick showers and then enjoyed the amenities Flywheel offered! They had everything from makeup wipes and lotion to towels and hair dryers. I was really excited to try the new Vaseline spray (I've seen the commercial with the girl who sprays it all over and gets dressed in one swift motion multiple times) and test it out for myself.

I was still sweating after the class and shower (TMI sorry but it was a serious workout) so I was cautious about putting it on… Well, I was definitely impressed!! I'm one of those girls who wears lotion year round but dreads it in the summer. It makes me feel really sticky and gross but it's necessary because my skin is dry from being out in the summer sun. This Vaseline spray went on quickly and was really light weight so it was easy to rub in. It dried instantly and I couldn't even feel the lotion once it dried. I used the cocoa scent (brown bottle) and felt like I was smelling the beach. It seems like the aloe scent (green bottle) was the most popular because it was all out.

I can't wait to go back to Flywheel and try out another class… they even offer FlyBarre! Have you been to Flywheel before? Have you tried the new Vaseline spray? I'd love to hear what you thought!!

***This post was sponsored by Flywheel and Vaseline but all opinions are my own… I endured the intense and sweaty 45 minute class!!
Thank you for supporting the brands that keep Southern Anchors going!***
