{going from desk to drinks}

I went into Target the other weekend to buy toilet paper (just being honest haha) and of course I had to browse the clothing section... I mean who goes to Target and doesn't stop through that section?! I stumbled upon this jumpsuit and thought "hmm this could be cute on." Well, the second I tried it on I was in loooove. It's conservative enough for work but has enough fun and flavor to it that I'd wear it out to a bar! I actually wore it to work a couple weeks ago, caught a train, and then went out for drinks with my family in Baltimore!

Living in DC I need my wardrobe to function for me in lots of different ways:
Work & Play // I have plenty of items that I can't wear to the office because a girl needs her mini skirts and off the shoulder shirts so it's really nice to have items that can work double duty! A big part of my life is events after work - that's when I get to see all of my friends and explore DC. I constantly have networking or blogger events in different places all over the city 3-4 times a week.
Travel // A travel friendly outfit comes in handy when you're walking to the metro or standing on a packed bus in traffic! You need to be able to move and not worry about flashing someone.
Date Night // A skirt and top is a classic look for work but it's not always what you want as a date option (my go to was always jeans and a blouse). A jumpsuit has a lot of sass and personality to it for the summertime! Dating is hard enough so why not have some fun with your look ;)

How do you make an outfit check all the boxes?

{little denim dress for the summer}

Finding little dresses for summer has always been a favorite pastime of mine. Some girls love wearing shorts but I am a dress lover through and through. Maxi, babydoll, A-line, you name it, I love it. When I saw this chambray number at Target I picked it up without even looking at the price (spoiler alert: it's $23) because I knew it would be perfect for the summer. Wear it to the beach as a coverup, throw on a sweater for dinner, or even take a long car ride in it! The cut of the top makes it stylish but the roomy skirt makes it a foodies dream... bring on the crab feast!

I dressed this number up with a gorgeous tassel necklace, wedges, and my new purse (aka my baby - y'all know I love my purses like children hehe). I've had so much fun with this new purse... I think I accessorize it as much as I do myself. It's fun to change up the scarf I tie around the handle, add on a keychain, or just let it shine on its own! Looking forward to styling these pieces together again and on their own a lot this summer!

{valentine's day | bar cart}

I have loved my bar cart since the day I finally purchased it. Before I moved into my studio apartment I constantly thought about buying one but never had the perfect spot for it. Now I’m constantly changing it up, rearranging, and decorating it for any season Target can supply $1 items for ;)

This Valentine’s Day I knew I wanted to deck it with everything pink! I live alone so why not make my little space as girly as I possibly can?! First up was the pink garland – it was a silly purchase but I already have an idea on how I can reuse it (birthdays, bachelorettes, etc).

I then bought some adorable pink glasses, new paper straws, cocktail napkins, and reused the “cheer” stirrers from my Christmas décor! I found almost everything in the holiday section at the front of Target - it's my favorite place to stop by first because everything is $1-$5!

I found a bottle of “Love Noir” wine and mixed it in with my Winc wine purchases.  A cute cliché nod to the holiday don’t ya think?

I always have wine stoppers on hand and this new one from Hudson & Crane reminded me of Cupid’s bow and arrows. I stash all of my wine stoppers (and airplane bottles) in the mercury jar on the top - I kept this one out to act as a weight for the cocktail napkins.

To add the finishing touch I bought Hershy’s Hugs! I always have chocolate around my house… it just adds a festive touch and I like being able to grab a sweet bite on my way out the door. Plus, Valentine’s Day is all about the chocolate! I added more roses and chocolates on my coffee table too.

How do you decorate for the holiday? Do you like seeing home décor posts like this? Let me know in the comments below!

{fuzzy reversible vest}

photography by Lauren Middledorf

Reversible Vest // Kendra Scott Necklace and Earrings c/o // DL1961 Jeans c/o // Black and Nude Flats // Black Sweater, old // Vera Bradley Purse c/o // Shop Ditto Sunglasses (get your first month free with code SOUTHERNANCHORS) // It Cosmetics Lipstick in "Perfect Nude" c/o

I realized that I probably should have included this vest in yesterday's gift guide post. The second I posted this vest on Instagram after wearing it I got multiple snaps/texts/comments that people went and purchased it for themselves... and I totally get it!! The second I saw it in stores myself I knew it had to be mine (especially since it's reversible). My mom agreed too haha, I wore it over Thanksgiving and we went to get her one while I was home because otherwise she was going to take mine :) It's perfect to dress down and run errands in but I've also worn it over black pants and a blouse for work. It's the perfect amount of warmth if you're wearing a light blouse in the office! Plus, it has pockets and the prettiest waterfall effect at the front.

Which side would you wear more? The grey cotton side or the white fuzzy side?
