Finding little dresses for summer has always been a favorite pastime of mine. Some girls love wearing shorts but I am a dress lover through and through. Maxi, babydoll, A-line, you name it, I love it. When I saw this chambray number at Target I picked it up without even looking at the price (spoiler alert: it's $23) because I knew it would be perfect for the summer. Wear it to the beach as a coverup, throw on a sweater for dinner, or even take a long car ride in it! The cut of the top makes it stylish but the roomy skirt makes it a foodies dream... bring on the crab feast!

I dressed this number up with a gorgeous tassel necklace, wedges, and my new purse (aka my baby - y'all know I love my purses like children hehe). I've had so much fun with this new purse... I think I accessorize it as much as I do myself. It's fun to change up the scarf I tie around the handle, add on a keychain, or just let it shine on its own! Looking forward to styling these pieces together again and on their own a lot this summer!

{it's good to be a girl}

I'm going a bit more casual for today's post. Just because this purse is so glam that it deserved to take center stage! It was a bit of a hot day when I styled this look but still cool in the shade - so I grabbed this loose chambray for a little bit of extra warmth (but not as heavy as a jean jacket). I had to add in my booties because it's the season! I'm also looking for a new pair... any favorites that y'all have this season so far?

You may remember my first It's Good to be a Girl post last month! Vera Bradley had just introduced their new logo and campaign :) women from all over have shared their favorite reasons why it's good to be a girl - my new favorite line (that I've seen on the site) says "not having to wear pants (aka dresses)"!! I got a good laugh at that. I looooove dresses but I hate tights... so the Fall is my ideal season because I can still let my legs breathe before I have to cover them up!

My new reason why it's good to be a girl? Mother Daughter time. Hanging out with your parent is probably the coolest thing to do. She knows everything about me, laughs just like me (or me like her), knows what I like to drink and eat, knows what to say to turn my day around, and we love all the same things. I had a hilarious weekend with her eating and drinking through DC and wine country and then spending the evening looking through gifs on the new iOS 10, eating salami and brie in bed, and watching Pretty Woman. My little "hotel room" of an apartment has had some pretty amazing memories all thanks to my momma! Yep, it's pretty good to be a girl!

After spending the day at the beach, outside, or on the water it can get a little chilly at night -especially after being in the sun (which obviously I have gotten none yet)! I love to throw a chambray over a tank and shorts to give it a more laid-back vibe. The oversized fit of this shirt makes it perfect for a car ride as well! Don't forget the accessories to give it your own twist :)

Growing up I was always the girl that could spend hours at the mall. Not always shopping, sometimes just browsing around and watching my Mimi and Great Grandmother, Num Num, pick things up, look at them, analyze it, and then put it back or add it to the large stack of things they were going to try on. I remember being amazed at how easily they could pick something out and know what to wear it with that they already owned at home. I think it was at that point that I learned to memorize my closet and learn to have a staple item that you can wear multiple ways.

One of my "go-to items" has always been a chambray shirt. I probably have 4 in my closet right now (well, 5 including this dark wash one) and they all get shown equal amounts of love. The dark wash of this shirt makes it perfect to get away with at work... not that I haven't before ;) When Potomac Mills approached me about their "Work the Shirt" challenge to help promote their accessories sale (until May 31!!!) I was instantly in. We're talking up to 70% off accessories throughout the whole mall.

Fun fact: Potomac Mills is Virginia's largest outlet mall. I grew up having a mall a couple of minutes from me so having a wide variety of stores and the amazing prices (hello Nordstrom Rack, Neiman's Last Call, Bloomingdales, Loft Outlet, Kate Spade, J.Crew, Express, Francesca's... okay, you get my point) close to DC makes my heart happy! The best part had to be how clean and uncrowded the mall is - it's like nobody knows how easy it is to shop there! No lines! All sizes! I found this entire outfit (minus my clutch) at Potomac Mills last Friday!

So let's talk about my outfit quickly shall we? Tie the shirt at the waist to give it a laid-back vibe and bring up the sophistication with easy, suede heels. Add in a bright yellow punch of color in a fun summery print and then add turquoise earrings to top it all off! Grown up enough for the office but still showing some spunk with color.
