{summer accessory | straw hat}

If there's one thing I've learned recently... a cute wide brimmed hat is my best friend in this FL heat! It protects my face and shoulders from the sun, adds a cute touch to the outfit, and helps me stay a bit cooler with some shade!

I rarely let my face see the sun when I'm outside. I wear SPF every day and a hat as often as possible (even while I'm running) because I would rather wear bronzer and self tanner on my face than have wrinkles. Dramatic right? Oh well! I have around 10 hats and love switching them out daily as a way to style my look. My favorites are neutral but I have a cute black hat with detailing and a fun olive green one too. The best part about wearing sun hats, versus a ball cap, are you can wear any sunglasses with them and they won't get in the way. Plus, they don't mush your hair down!

{recent purchases | forever 21}

I've recently made a couple of purchases from Forever 21 because of various sales they've been having this February/March! Since items can fly under the radar due to the sheer capacity of product they carry I thought it would be fun to quickly share everything I've picked up (and kept)!! I found this cute lil dress in stores and was instantly smitten with the style.

I love a good smocked detail on dresses and tops but was worried that having it around my mid-section would highlight an area that I didn't want to have attention brought to. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when the fit was really slimming! You can move the skirt up or down and really maneuver this style to fit your body type. Plus, it's so lightweight and breezy without making you look baggy. The combo of loose up top and fitted at the waist is very slimming. I've been stalking the website to see if this has popped up online yet but no luck (it's still in stores)! I've linked a bunch of similar dresses in the same style that are just as adorable!

These wedges have also become a staple for me this summer. They're perfect for work and fun! I wore them to a welcome party for a wedding in MA last weekend. I can commute to work in them AND dance all night in them - total win in my book!

{the skorts big comeback}

Do you remember the days when skorts were all the rage and every popular girl in the 90s had one?

I'm here to say that they're officially back. They've been trying for awhile and now that everything old is new again the skort's coming back in a big way. Especially for a beach vacation!! Gosh, being able to ride my bike to dinner and then sit on the front porch and not have to worry about a short skirt or dress was amazing. I felt dressed up and really cute for dinner but comfortable enough to hang out after - I rarely stay in the same clothes once we get home. Bonus points because skorts normally have pockets haha heyyy!! Forever 21 runs small in my opinion so I'm wearing a Medium - you can see where it sits on my hips so I was happy with the length of the shorts and having (almost all of) my belly button covered.

I've been pairing everything with a crop top recently (I'll round up my favorites at some point) and this little amazon find has gotten a lot of use! I sized up to a Medium because the reviews said it was tight across the shoulders. I have broad shoulders so I was glad that I listened to the reviews. I could've maybe gotten away with a large to make the shirt longer but it may have gaped at the armpits since I'm smaller chested. I loved the ruffle across the shoulders and the ribbing of the fabric - two elements that make this top unique even though it's just plain white! But plain white goes with everything... so I'm never gonna quit with my love for all things white :)
