Welcome to my blog, Southern Anchors, my name is Jennifer!
I'm a graduate of Virginia Tech, where I studied Interior Design and was a Delta Gamma for four years. I currently live in Washington, DC and work at an Architecture firm.
I started this blog as a way to share my affinity for fashion and design. I believe that the best style is one that can evolve and change... Why should you spend a fortune on something when you can shop reasonably and still look great? I love to be creative with my outfits - whether it's for work or for play - mixing high end with bargain pieces is one of my favorite tricks. Fashion is supposed to be fun and you should never be afraid to take a risk :) Just always be true to yourself! I hope that Southern Anchors inspires you to try something new and put an outfit together you never knew you might like!
Why the name Southern Anchors you might ask?
Well, I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and moved to Baltimore when I was 13 (I still haven't been able to kick the "y'all" and I don't plan on it)! I believe that my fashion sense and style is directly related to where I've grown up and lived. Living on the East Coast during high school exposed me to a nautical style and I fell in love with all things anchors… yes, DG had a huge influence on that too! Don't worry - I still wear my country boots ;)
I began documenting my outfits and photos on a tumblr page in 2010 and thus began my love of blogging. When I moved to DC I finally took the plunge as I noticed my sense of style changing and adapting to the working world. The name Southern Anchors was carried over to my personal blog because it's the fun loving and colorful style I hope to always hold on to!
I'd love to help you with any questions you might have about fashion, design, or life in general :) My email is always open to meeting new friends and readers!
