{what to wear winery hopping on a cold fall day}

Photography by Katie Urban

The key to staying warm while hopping around wineries is layers! A warm sweater with a little mock neck, a large scarf that you can drape over your shoulders and a wool coat (not pictured since I sat in the sun)! I put on a hat to keep my head warm and over-the-knee boots over jeans add an extra layer of warmth for your calves/knees. The reason I love layers is you never know what the temperature is going to be like outside of the city - the breeze could be stronger or the sun could be shining. It's funny the difference an hour drive can make! Some wineries can be so toasty warm inside that you practically want to roll your boots down off your knees haha.

All of these layers make for a classic outfit. If you stick with dark skinny jeans and a white sweater you can make your scarf stand out and focus on the details. I loved making the red in my scarf pop by wearing my mirrored blue sunglasses! Think about how different this look would be if I had a camel scarf on instead - the focus would probably be on my hat because that would be the eye catching detail. I think that's why I love white sweaters... they're the perfect backdrop for any fun accessory. With a scarf that has a price tag like this one does it's no wonder I can't help but want every color!

What is your go-to outfit for a day of fun? What do you consider to be a fall/winter staple?

{red tuckernuck scarf}

A red silk scarf paired with the coziest sweater ever = match made in heaven!

How is everyone's week going after Thanksgiving? I feel like the week after having a couple of days off is always difficult. A full 5-day work week can just wear you out sometimes! I hope that's not just me?! I had a rough start to the week - I wasn't sleeping well and I hadn't heard from Kyle in a couple of days. He's out on patrol right now so our communication is limited to email. I think it's been a little bit harder for me this time because of the holiday season! I love doing all things festive and walking around to see the lights and decorations like we did last year together :) But, I just keep reminding myself that he'll be back by Christmas Eve!

Okay so now let's chat about this look...

I fell in love with this scarf in the summer and knew I needed one in seasonal colors too! It's so well made and the fabric is silky soft like butter. The fabric is lightweight (so you could wear it in the summer) but if you wrap it around your shoulders it can still keep a lot of warmth in! It's the perfect accessory to any casual or dressy look. The colors are so rich and vibrant that it can truly become the statement of an outfit. I love wearing it right now because it gives a bit of subtle Christmas cheer without being over the top!

Y'all have heard me rave about this sweater for weeks now... I know I've shared it on Instagram multiple times :) the chenille fabric is so soft (that's kind of the theme of this outfit hehe) and I like the boxy oversized fit of the sweater. I tucked it in in the front to give my waist some shape and character to the outfit. Paired with jeans and my OTK boots it's a grab and go outfit that makes you look very put together.

This scarf OR sweater would be the BEST Christmas gifts for anyone on your list!! My mom approves of the scarf (she bought a couple for friends) and my grandma bought the sweater with me ;) all ages approved!

{light blue off the shoulder romper}

If I could live in rompers I would. They're one of my favorite things to pack - it's pretty much a whole outfit in one!

I wore this cute lil romper in Key West and then brought it with me to the Hamptons! It's meant to be worn off the shoulder but I was playing around with styling it and let one side hang off. Because of the elastic you can't even tell that it's not intended to be only on one shoulder! I love that it can be worn multiple ways - more bang for your buck! (It's already so cheap at only $16)

I got a Medium because I'm always worried about length, but I think I could've easily gotten a Small and still had length in the shorts. They're a pretty conservative length. The fabric is cotton and the waist tie isn't attached so you don't have to tie it around the waist if you don't like it - I think the bow adds a nice little detail though :) Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of this romper and can't recommend it enough!

{summer sun in the hamptons}

Last weekend I was in the Hamptons with 3 of my NYC gals - this was the second trip we made there together! Allie was our gracious host and per usual, we had a lot of laughs, photos, and wine :) [and Aperol Spritzes thanks to Dana]

It rained all Saturday but we still explored Montauk and East Hampton during the day and then had a gorgeous sunset during dinner! When we woke up Sunday morning there wasn't a cloud in the sky (phew) so we sat out by the pool and soaked up as much as we could.

When I was packing for the weekend I wanted to try a fun look that's great for the beach, pool, or night out on the water. I've worn this scarf when it was colder out (see here) and was really excited to try and style it a new way. All I did was fold it into a triangle and then tie the two corners in a double knot in the front. Even though it's showing my stomach I liked how the tie in the front is long enough to cover more skin. It allowed a lot of breeze to get through while still keeping me feeling a bit more covered up. It was the perfect pool look when paired with white pants! I picked these up at South Moon Under recently and fell in love right away. The material was lightweight and didn't stick to my legs. I actually wore them on the train ride home and felt like I was wearing sweatpants haha! I'm really excited to dress these up and down a bit more this summer. I think they could look great with heels and a navy linen blazer!
