{casual chic holiday party look}

An easy holiday look is as simple as a great pair of heels and a bright red lip!

Photography by Katie

With all of the holiday parties coming up it can be stressful to pull together a new outfit and feel like you have to purchase something new. Sometimes it's best to go with a classic look and add in a subtle bit of red or green and top it off with a bold lip! I love pairing heels with a great pair of blue jeans and a crisp white shirt - it's basically fool proof. The tie on this shirt gives it a fun detail and helps give you some shape while still leaving room for the dessert table. The accessory I never leave home without is always my cashmere scarf... because this shirt is thinner, throwing a scarf over my shoulders like a shawl helps add some warmth (and then when the party heats up you aren't going to be having a heat stroke in a tacky sweater because the shirt is breathable hah)!

I purchased this NARS lip color in "heat wave" years ago and it consistently remains a holiday favorite. It's matte so it doesn't budge and genuinely lasts for hours. Somehow the color works on so many skin types and it makes your teeth look whiter! I can't recommend it enough!

And because this photoshoot was SO windy I figured y'all deserved the outtakes haha - Katie and I had to be pretty patient with the wind and waiting for people to get out of the background. The things you do to get the shot! I've always wanted to shoot at The Line Hotel in DC and it didn't disappoint!

What's your go-to holiday look?

{what to wear to a fall wedding}

One of the hardest things to dress for in the cooler months are rehearsal dinners and weddings! You want something comfortable to dance in, appropriate for the dress code, and seasonal! If you're like me, then you don't want long sleeves or a heavy, thick material if you're tearing up the dance floor. Getting a strappy dress is totally fine for the cold if you add a cashmere wrap to give you some warmth (bonus points because it will cover your shoulders if you're at a strict ceremony and don't want to keep a coat on). So how do you keep it seasonally appropriate... The answer? Color and fabric! Stick with dark hues like navy, black, wine/burgundy, and emerald green. For the fabric make sure it doesn't wrinkle easily (that instantly cheapens a dress) and that it's nicer than your simple black dress you wear to work. This is your opportunity to make a statement!

I originally tried this dress on in red at Shop Luna in Bethesda - y'all went nuts over it on IG stories. While I love a red dress more than anything I wanted to keep things a bit more muted for the rehearsal dinner (I was a bridesmaid) and this navy blue was so stunning when the fabric moves. It's stretchy and hugs you in the right places while still allowing you to eat (phew). I'm a small chested gal so I loved the knot at the front to give me some shape. I paired it with my favorite leopard clutch for a pop, comfortable nude heels, and the most gorgeous camel cashmere wrap I own. Camel goes with everything and really makes the navy appear rich!

{cashmere work wear}

Black Swing Dress // Polka Dot Tights // BaubleBar Earrings c/o // BaubleBar Ring c/o // Clare V Clutch // Cashmere Wrap // Black Suede Heels (identical in Tan, similar) // NARS Lipstick in “Luxembourg”

I’m always looking for comfortable, easy to throw on outfits for work. I love wearing black in the winter because it just feels right… there’s no other explanation really! I’m a huge color person but black just makes an outfit instantly seem put together. So my grab-and-go work outfits have a lot of black to pull from! I always like to add a fun detail so polka dot tights were a no brainer. They instantly add some personality.  As usual… top it off with some sparkle! I love how these could work during any season!

Side note: I wear this cashmere wrap alllll the time. It’s thin (but warm) enough to wrap around my neck but I love wearing it as a shawl. It’s the perfect amount or extra warmth at work when I get a chill! With the weather getting a little warmer I always keep this on hand for when the wind picks up a bit - no need for a big, bulky jacket when I can just wrap this around my shoulders.

{faux leather leggings}

Photography by Emily Smalling

Zara Cashmere Turtleneck (similar, similar - both on sale) // Lush White Blouse (underneath) // Faux Leather Leggings // Steve Madden OTK Boots // Julie Vos Necklace c/o // Daniel Wellington Watch c/o (15% off with code JENNROG) // Kendra Scott Druzy Studs c/o // David Yurman Cuff // Miu Miu Sunglasses via Shop Ditto (first month free with SOUTHERNANCHORS) // GloMinerals Suede Matte Lipstick in "port" via DermStore c/o

With snow predictions for Friday I felt it was only fitting to share this outfit! I had this all prepped for New York and never got around to wearing it. I love the mix of cashmere and (faux) leather - so luxurious yet the layers are so easy and simple. Whenever I wear something loose up top I always try to keep the bottom sleek and fitted. This way I don't look like a giant blob teetering in suede boots ;) The best part is this look can be recreated so easily! All you need is a comfy turtleneck (or big sweater), long collarless blouse, leggings, and boots. I added a long, gold necklace to lengthen my torso and grabbed my new sunnies to glam up the look.

Here's hoping the snow doesn't freak DC out all over again! Like it did on the day I took these photos... ha! The city can't deal...
