{pink lily boutique open knit cardigan}

Pink Lily Cardigan // Black Tank Top // Old Navy Jeans (cut the hem myself) // Birdie's Leopard Flats // Prive Revaux Sunglasses // Amazon Necklaces

I was so excited to be home in Baltimore last weekend! Mainly to see my Momma and Mimi but also to get a *little* taste of some Fall weather. I'm not really purchasing fall clothes unless I'm traveling somewhere and that's not exactly happening haha. I did pick up this cardigan though because it looked warm but lightweight enough with it's open knit! I saw a couple of changing leaves and instantly had to get some photos in front of them ;) Hey, when you live in Key West it's all about the little things in the short amount of time I had in MD!

{my christmas day outfit}

Velvet Leggings // White Sweater // Plaid Scarf (on sale for $18) // Red Bow Earrings // J Necklace // Monogrammed Clutch // Black Heels, old (similar) // It Cosmetics Lipstick in "it girl"

Velvet leggings, a big sweater, and my favorite plaid holiday scarf! This is the outfit I'll be wearing on Christmas day - sans the heels ;) The basics are simple but adding a bit of velvet creates a luxe look and the accessories help this pop. I found these leggings on a whim over Thanksgiving and can't stop wearing them - they don't stretch out in the knees either! Velvet is all the rage this season and I couldn't help but jump on the trend!

Let's talk blanket scarves too... I've been a fan since college and love wearing them to add an extra something something to my outfit. It's also the easiest way to stay warm (duh) since they're so big and can be wrapped around your shoulders! I love that this plaid adds some holiday spirit too. I'm not sure why plaid feels festive but it just goes with everything!

My family always wears their pajamas while we open our stockings in the morning and then we clean up and put on some comfy, festive clothes! It gives us time to cook some food and make our signature family drink while we FaceTime/call the rest of the family :) then we all sit down and open presents together. I love that we do it this way because we really take the time to spend the entire day together. Everyone puts such thought into each present for each other so we open presents one by one (not sure how this worked when we were kids haha). My sister, her boyfriend Mark, their two dogs, and Kyle will be with us for Christmas and a couple of days after so we have lots of bonding ahead!!

This Christmas is going to be very different because of my dad's declining health - so taking the time to soak up each moment and memory is going to be even more special. I find myself holding on to each second harder. 2017 has been the best and the worst year (don't we all say that every year though?) so ending on time spent with family only seems fitting.

{off the shoulder stripes with turquoise tassels}

Off The Shoulder Top // Elyse by Nicole Turquoise Tassels c/o // Old Navy Jeans // Platinum Jack Rogers // Scout Clutch (with an Inslee monogram) c/o // BITE Lipstick in "Pastille"

We have a heat wave hitting DC right now... I walked home from work at 8:00 last night and it was still 91 degrees! Phew! Maybe blue jeans aren't the best for this heat but this top is perfect! It's technically a crop top so I got a size large so that it would be a bit longer. I love the loose fit and the material breathes really well - it was hot when I shot these photos and it didn't show anything! I knew I had to pair this shirt with these shoulder grazing tassels. They're the perfect accessory to draw even more attention to your shoulders. Y'all know I love turquoise and these are no exception (I can never have too much). Can we talk about my clutch too?! I got it at a SCOUT event last month and Inslee was there making custom monograms *insert heart eye emoji* I absolutely adore her work!

How is everyone's week going? I have had an absolute insane two weeks at work so I haven't been able to keep up with my usual blog posts. I apologize for that! It seems the second I get a handle on things and get into a groove something else pops up. Perhaps I'll never be able to fully balance work, the blog, friendships, and my relationship... I'm not sure. It's frustrating to me that I can't do everything I want to do - I'm in trouble when I have to plan a wedding or when I have kids or when I get promoted again (PS none of those things are happening soon haha)! But, that seems to be how life is recently. I'm attempting to focus on the positive things and not stress out about the bad things. There's too much good in my life to allow the negative to take over.

So on that note: I'm going to go buy more peonies (if you follow me on IG you know I've got them at work and at home @jennrog) and rock some turquoise tassel earrings ;) thanks for reading!!

{white roses}

Tobi Halter c/o ($27 with code 50SW) // Old Navy Jeans // Julie Vos Bracelet c/o // Nordstrom Rack Heels (similar) // Kendra Scott Earrings // Nordstrom Purse

Y'all already know I love white... white pants in the summer are most girls go-to so why not add in a deep back white halter? Give yourself more of a chance to catch a breeze ;) I have been shopping at Tobi for years now and they always have a great selection of going out clothes. Plus, all of their new arrivals are 30% off for the first week! This halter is on sale for $27 right now too! I may need to snag it in black...

This summer has certainly been a whirlwind - the past two weeks especially! After my move into a studio in the city I instantly jetted off to Charleston for The Blog Societies conference! Now, I'm finally able to finish this post while watching cable (go Team USA!) and having my internet spot in and out. The joys of moving, ya know?! I still have a lot of catching up to do on Southern Anchors and life. But, I'm slowly getting it all put together and I have some great outfits that were shot while in Charleston. Can't wait to share everything - let me know if you have any suggestions or want to see something in particular.
