{instagram lately | 7.11.17}

It's been a hot second since I've done a round-up of some of my favorite Instagram posts! While I haven't had the time to sit down and write out a post (or shoot a look outside with my camera) it is super easy for me to snap an outfit of the day, or #ootd, on my way out the door. I've pretty much got the pose down... perhaps I should try and switch that up haha. When I get in a creative rut (with blogging) I always start by trying to get clever with my work wardrobe aka my everyday wear. I'll try combining a necklace with a skirt I never wear anymore or belt a dress that I wear loose and flowy. Funny how taking a good mirror selfie tend to make everything seem to fall into place.

I'm going to stop making excuses for why I can't blog or shoot on the weekends... I have TONS of travel coming up (would y'all want a post on my upcoming trips?) so I'm hoping to get lots of content shot. AND my home tour is almost complete - because I'm finally feeling 100% about things a year later #designerprobs.

Shop some of my recent IG outfits below! If something is sold out I've attempted to link a similar item! Make sure to follow me on Instagram to be up to date with everything!

I found this dress for a graduation and y'all couldn't get enough of it!! It sold out quickly but just got fully restocked :) I't runs large - I'm wearing an XS

This suitcase is the 21" size. Dress is hi-lo hem and has a long tie in the back so you can adjust where it sits on you in the front.

I love how this shirt can be worn so many different ways - I tucked it into a non-high-waisted skirt here for work! (Skirt is old from Forever 21)

This dress is an old Topshop find but I linked this season's version of the dress. I belted it to give it more shape!

Embroidery is all the rage this summer so when I pulled this old dress from the back of my closet I knew it would cheer me up on a rough morning. Lipstick is NARS "heat wave".

I own this dress in two colors (olive green and blue) and wear it all the time. This necklace has also been on repeat - I bought it for my birthday (you get one item 50% off during your bday month)!

Yes, I love tassels... that's no secret. These have to be the classiest (aka dressiest) ones that I own!! Hello, winter cocktail parties! Lipstick is Bite in shade "palomino".

My new fave tank of the summer - the perfect length to wear with shorts, double lined, and the straps have the cutest detailing to them! I own it in white and blue and am wearing a size 6. Shorts are old from the Lilly x Target collaboration.

I can't say enough good things about rompers. It's pretty much all I wear on the weekends. This white one is sold out (I'll still link it in case it randomly pops back up) but I'm also linking to some cute white rompers I have my eye on right now... you can never have too many!

I bought this kimono as a beach coverup but am so in love with it that I pair it with "regular" clothes too - most recently this black dress and a white tank with white jeans!

This exact dress is currently sold out but I've found the same style in another pattern and an off the shoulder dress in this same dot pattern! Also, the most perfect purse ever...

One of my recent finds was this $25 romper! I wore it on the Fourth of July - perfect for roasting s'mores by the fire :) I've also included the black strapless romper I found in the same trip.

Thanks for reading along - did you see anything you have to have ASAP?!

{the liketoknow.it app is here}

If you're a blogger then you've known this app was coming for some time now... however, we had no clue how awesome and easy it was actually gonna be! Shopping your favorite bloggers instagrams is now as easy as taking a screenshot. No, seriously, all you have to do is download an app and screenshot your favorite photos. This new technology is incredible. Don't worry - you can still "like and shop" the old way and get emails! I detailed all of that out in this blog post.

I'm breaking it down step by step below to help you (visually) know how easy this is!

Step 1 // Download the app, connect your Instagram to it and allow it to have access to your screenshots (it's only interested in the LTK enabled ones, don't worry)

Step 2 // Screenshot a post in Instagram. You'll then get a notification saying "your screenshot by @____ is ready to shop!"

Step 3 // Go shop it in the app!

Step 4 // Explore even more ready-to-shop photos from the Influencer you were just interested in by scrolling down on the photo past the product links. There's also a "discover" tab on the bottom right to find new accounts that you can shop (similar to the explore tab in Instagram)!

Step 5 // Keep all of your likes and screenshots in one place. It's like a mini shopping feed that you just created for yourself :)

A couple of things to note:
-Liking a photo will still populate your feed in your app AND it will send you an email. If you don't want to receive emails anymore you can change your settings through the LIKEtoKNOW.it website!
-Deleting a photo from your photo album won't delete it from your app's feed.
-This technology also works on Insta stories, Pinterest, Snapchat, and Facebook! Whenever you see the LTK icon in the bottom corner (it's the circle with a heart in it like the image below - it will be white or black), that's a visual cue that the photo is enabled through the app.
-If an Instagram photo doesn't have the watermark icon that's okay - it's still shoppable as long as it has the usual LTK trio (http://liketk.it/2qBX7 #liketkit @liketoknow.it).

Still uncertain and confused? Go into your app to check out the "frequently asked questions" - click into the discover tab, tap on the little screw symbol on the top right hand side to get into settings and then scroll to the bottom (right above the log out button). It's super helpful! If you still have more questions check out this video that the LTK team put together! I always love a good visual aid :) and of course feel free to email me! I'm always here when I forget to tag an item or you need sizing help!

So what do you think of this new app? Are you excited? I think it will make shopping so much easier (and I love the idea of having everything in one place) but I'm curious to hear what y'all think!

Now let's all go to Instagram and test it out!! I have a new photo up that's showing off my two favorite new spring purchases ;) Screenshot it and see where they're from in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app!

{coffee date no. 4}

Well folks, I'm back...

Writing this post right now makes my life feel a little bit more normal finally. I want to start it off on a good note - I've linked some of my recent purchases that you can shop before they hit Southern Anchors. I'll be shooting a lot of them this weekend!

I'm sure you've been wondering where I've been since I've had near radio silence on my IG, blog and twitter for the past two weeks [except snapchat ;) jennrog3]. Most of you know that I work at a large architecture firm as an interior designer in DC (I went to Virginia Tech and was in the College of Architecture. No, I'm not a decorator - let's not go down that road, okay?) Usually, I work an average 50 hour week, come home, attempt to work out, cook dinner, and then I finish up my blog posts, schedule tweets, snap some instagrams, and answer emails. The last three months (no joke - I'm psycho) this schedule has changed a bit because I was studying for the final portion of my certification exams so that I can become a licensed designer. You may remember my past two "breaks" for the first two sections of the exam in April and October of last year. Those were 4 hour long multiple choice exams taken at a Prometrics Center (ew). This time around was a bit more intense... my exam was 8 hours long and was all hand-drafting, aka pencil and paper with an architectural scale. So every night I would complete one of the 7 exercises that makes up the exam and every Saturday morning I would go into work at 7:30am and take a day long practice exam. I didn't go out. I rarely saw my friends. I wasn't doing fun photoshoots with Emily or blog friends. I never took a break. Studying was my life.

My exam was April 2 and I'm so happy it's over!! But, now I have to wait 10-12 weeks to get my results back. I'm not gonna lie - this was the hardest thing I've ever done and I have a bad feeling I'm not gonna pass and will have to retake it in six months (just being totally honest here! I'm not ashamed to admit failure - barely 40% of people pass this portion of the exam). My exam didn't go too hot. I had low blood sugar and got a migraine with 2 hours left then got sick when I got home. It was a less than ideal experience. If you want to read more about the NCIDQ (that's the certification name) you can go here :) it's really not that interesting haha. Feel free to email me as well... I know there have to be some aspiring designers out there!!

Why am I rambling about this short break? Because I want to be transparent with y'all about what's going on in my life. I hate neglecting the blog and I really hate neglecting my readers. I was going to create a full week of content last weekend but after the exam my boyfriend picked me up and we drove to Baltimore. We spent Saturday night and Sunday at home with my parents since I hadn't seen them since Christmas. I have mentioned it here and there but my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer almost 3 years ago. He's been having a really hard time lately so I put everything aside and just spent time with him, my mom, and Jon. I normally go home at least once a month (and I see Jon once a month as well - stupid long distance) so it was wonderful to have them all together at the same time. Whenever my Dad is struggling it always helps to go home and see him. It instantly lifts his spirits and it makes me feel like I'm doing something to help. A lot of my struggle with his cancer is feeling helpless and that I can't do anything. All in all the weekend ended on a happy, positive note! There are other things I'm struggling with but we'll save that for coffee date no. 5 ;)

Let's get on to the fun part of this coffee date, shall we?

This weekend - I'm FINALLY shooting with Emily again :) I've been linking all of my new purchases on the right side bar under my picture so you can shop them all before they hit the blog. I'm going to be shooting a lot of looks this Sunday so grab them early!

What I've been loving recently:
-Adding new wish list items to my Boutique page! Shop it all here.
-The new Color Story app! I can't get enough... so easy to use and I love that you can save the filters that you combined as your own filter!
-Blue Apron - I've been an avid cooker all thanks to this service. I learned this week that the owners are all women! HECK YA! Read it here.
-This beauty mask has been on heavy rotation recently. My tired skin is in heaven!

So much inspiration from BLOGS:
-My sweet friend, Brittney Ann, is back to blogging - this dress is so cute!
-I dream about Napa every day. Julia's post is too good to miss.
-A Washington, DC travel guide via my blog BFF, Kristyn!
-A good themed photoshoot always draws my interest... but THIS had me squealing!! Congrats, Kate!
-Alex's denim jacket and blue sunnies! Adding this jacket to my list...
