{philadelphia travels}

I can't believe Labor Day weekend has already come and gone! I had been looking forward to finally visiting Philly to see my friend Meg for awhile and everything came together so quickly (and perfectly). I took the train down with a couple of my friends and then Meg took us to alllll the best spots in Philly! She actually emailed us an itinerary… it was so great! I can't wait to go back and visit again soon :)

Lots of pictures coming up but if you're looking to travel to Philadelphia soon this post is for you!

Friday we took the train up and the talking began instantly :) Once we got to Meg's we instantly hopped in the car and headed over to Pat's and Geno's. We were going to split up and see which one was best but all ended up eating at Pat's! I ordered wrong of course… ugh, I got so flustered that I phrased it wrong haha even after Meg had sent us this article! Definitely get the cheese whiz. It makes it more authentic.

Then we went home and got ready for a night on the town! We went to Drinkers where they sell 40s in plastic bottles (could've used those in college) and then Smith's to dance for the rest of the night with awesome music. Two totally different bars but so much fun!

Saturday morning we all woke up around 8… I guess that's what happens when you're reunited with your best friends and are looking forward to exploring a new city.

We began the trek to Rittenhouse Square and had brunch at Parc. Stephen Starr has a bunch of restaurants in Philadelphia and he has one in DC called Le Diplomate - the menus are very similar and the food is simply amazing! We had a delicious cocktail called the Basilic and I had the Croque Madame to eat. YUM!

Then we walked around the city and saw some sights: Farmer's Market in Rittenhouse Square, LOVE statue, Dilworth Park, Walnut Street and Chestnut Street, and City Hall. We weren't able to go to the art museum or see the Rocky steps because of the Made in America Festival (instead we saw a lot of scantily clad teenagers).

After a lot of walking it was time for a refreshing beverage ;) we went to the cutest "pop-up" beer garden and talked for a couple of hours in the shade… it was so gorgeous! We kept saying how perfect the venue would be for a wedding!

We stopped at "Big Gay Ice Cream" to eat the biggest ice cream cones I've ever seen and peek inside the "Magic Gardens". [My ice cream was a vanilla swirl injected with dulce de leche, topped with salt, and then dipped in chocolate. Whoah.]

Finally, we went home to shower and get ready for a night out! We headed to the Independence Beer Garden that's right next to the Liberty Bell. This place was so cool - they had all different types of areas set up: casual seating, giant tree stump seats, adirondack chairs, ping pong tables, giant jenga, picnic tables, etc. We sat at a long picnic table under strings of lights and played jenga (this got intense) and checkers. We ordered almost every single starter on the menu (popcorn and pretzel bites were the best) before ordering french fries and magi tacos. They were incredible!

When it began getting dark out we were off to the next location. We got to see the Liberty Bell on our way out. Then we arrived at the BEST place I've ever been to: Morgan's Pier. SO magical. SO much fun. AND we drank Moscow Mules all night ;) happy camper. Perfect breeze all night and the temperature was beyond perfect.

Sunday morning half of the girls left us :( That didn't stop us from keeping up with the itinerary! We had a bottomless brunch at another Stephen Starr restaurant - Jones. Order the money bread. Trust me. I also got the Huevos Rancheros… so much flavor!

Take a guess at how far we walked while exploring everything else… ;)

Washington Square Park, Delancy Street, Liberty Bell (again), Penn's Landing, and Spruce Street Harbor Park - around 7.3 miles!! PHEW!

The night ended with dinner at Revolution House where we could see glimpses of the Benjamin Franklin bridge! Then we got another ice cream from "Big Gay Ice Cream"… I had to just get a swirl cone because I was so full.

Monday morning we walked to get South Street Philly Bagels and went to see the Italian Market before attempting to get one more cheesesteak at Ishkabibble's or Jim's. Sadly, the lines were crazy long because of the holiday!

I feel like the whole weekend just flew by! There's nothing better than getting back together with your friends and feeling like no time has passed at all between you - Through breakups, weddings, moves, job changes, heart break, distance, and time we've stayed just as close as we were in college! So lucky to have all of my dreamies with me through every step of life! XOXO!

Love Always,
