{light blue maxi}

I have never worn a more free-flowing dress than this maxi right here folks.

I recently wore this to a friend's engagement part on the river (gorgeous views) and it fluttered so softly in the wind. The colors are gorgeous and the ruffle at the top dips down so elegantly in the back. It just felt like the right amount of romance to celebrate two of my dear friends!

I know not everyone loves that "slip" underneath a maxi and I must agree... most of the time. Since this dress had no shape at all the slip provided a way to show off my legs slightly and let a breeze through (hello, it's hot this summer)! My rule of thumb: if it's fitted be conservative and have it lined. If it's loose and breezy, have some fun with it!

I absolutely adore tassels... they can be on a shirt, shoes, jewelry, earrings... you name it, I'll wear it!

When I saw this shirt at Vestique. I knew it would be the perfect shirt for summer! (Actually, I thought of my sister first since she wears neon every day. Sorry Sam!)

Now I need to go create a pinterest board just for tassels......... oh boy.

{summer shorts season}

I normally wear structured, fitted shorts so when I picked these up at Forever 21 it was because of the pattern. I was surprised when my whole family instantly oohed and aahed over them when I walked downstairs wearing them! For me, these were like wearing pajama shorts with pockets! They were perfect to play outside with my dog in and will be great with wedges for a brunch out in DC! Thank you to Kaitlyn and Amanda who convinced me they were worth purchasing!!

Kelty only cared about his stick... he is seriously camera shy!

I loved mixing in some fabulous sparkle with an old simple lace tank... subtle pattern mixing! Plus the tight fit offset the voluminous shorts and made it easier to tuck in.

{girly + distressed}

Sometimes the best combo is the most unexpected one. I wore this sweet, ruffled, girly shirt with distressed cutoffs on Saturday to go home and see my family. It was perfect for a quick car ride to Baltimore and then sit around outside in. We sat around the patio talking while my sister and mom did some gardening. My sister is headed to Indiana to begin an internship with a wildlife rehabilitation center... so beyond proud of her!!! She's there for 3 months :( It was great to catch up and give her a big squeeze!

My dad is from Wales... so the fact that he hung an American flag on the front step for the 4th of July was the cutest thing! Had to get a picture in front of it :) Hope everyone had a great weekend!
