{hostess gifts}

With the holiday season approaching… yep, I went there… It's time to start thinking about gifts! The first type of present you should be running out and stocking up on? Hostess gifts! The holidays are filled with lots of parties and events and so much planning and time goes on behind the scenes that people always forget to say thank you. Simply having girls over for drinks can mean taking the time to tidy up the place and go to the store to grab some snacks! The best way to make the hostess (or host) feel appreciated is by giving them a little gift. I'm not talking a new pair of earrings or an elaborate cheese plate (although those would certainly be appreciated) - I'm talking a simple gesture saying "hey, I appreciate you taking the time to do this." Stocking up on some easy items ensures that you can have a last minute party come up and you're covered as you rush out the door. I've come up with three easy things that any hostess will genuinely love…

1 // Notepads - If your friend is hosting a party they're already a planner. And what planner doesn't love to keep a notepad on hand? I personally have 10+ on my side table, in my purse, on my bookshelf, etc. The cuter the notepad the more likely it can be left out for easy access to note taking! I'm more likely to cross things off my to-do list if it's staring at me. Your host can use it to help her make lists for the next event she's planning!

2 // Coasters - When you're cleaning up after a party the last thing you want to be doing is finding ways to get rid of drink rings. Coasters are a clever little thing to put out on coffee tables or side tables to remind people that they should use a coaster ;) If you're using an ottoman as a coffee table it also helps protect the fabric from drips that could stain. I love fun patterned ones or kitschy little sayings - they're fun little decorative items to add a personal touch to an otherwise boring spot.

3 // Wine - This is way too obvious. It's the easiest thing to grab from the store and give to your host while you make your way in to the party. Take it to the next step by adding a wine tag around the bottle neck. It's basically a card for a present but it won't get lost. The next morning your hosts will remember who gave them the bottle… and your chances of getting invited back are pretty high now ;) Personally, the level of wine quality doesn't matter to me because it's the thought that counts (just no boxed wine, please).

What other hostess gifts do you recommend? Do you bring a gift to parties during the holiday season?

Love Always,
